Time to Pick’em Up and Put’em Down!

March 30, 2009 By Paul

Dear Friends and Virtual Hikers,

Get on your mark! Get set! Go! Or as Karen Carpenter sang “We’ve Only Just Began.” In reality, it’s more like the Beatles singing “The long and winding road that leads…” to the Appalachian Trail. That road now stands before me. This week starts Herm’s Hike at Springer Mountain, Georgia. Please join me on a weekly basis as I document the trials, tribulations, and triumphs of an AT hiker and Alzheimer’s caregiver for my father. It is going to be very difficult to juggle both responsibilities, but with your support, I can do it! There’s going to be time on and off the trail which should create a rather interesting journal. I have no doubt that I will encounter a lot of fascinating people, places and events. My goal is to showcase them for you. Keep me in your prayers! And remember, together we are moving to a cure for Alzheimer’s, one step and one dollar at a time!
